Track Station
about.
Track Station is an interactive web experience dedicated to exploring the history, influence, and culture of rap music. It blends storytelling, data visualization, and playful interactions to guide the user through key eras, iconic artists, and the genre’s global impact.
Malory Bossel and me built the website as part of a course project at HEIG-VD, with the goal of combining design, front-end development, and user experience.
The project was realized using:
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for structure and styling.
GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) to create smooth, scroll-based animations (parallax effects, pinning, horizontal scrolling, and fades).
A game section developed in JavaScript to make the experience more engaging and playful.
A strong emphasis on visual storytelling, with hand-picked images, textures, and typographic styles to match the aesthetics of hip-hop culture.
This project was created to push our skills in creative coding and interactive design while working as a team. It gave us the chance to experiment with advanced front-end animation techniques, explore narrative web design, and deliver a site that is both educational and immersive.
challenge.
This project was both exciting and challenging from start to finish. One of the biggest hurdles was managing complex animations with GSAP and ensuring smooth scroll interactions without breaking the layout. Balancing design and performance was a real challenge especially when creating parallax effects and horizontal scrolls that worked seamlessly across devices. Another difficulty was maintaining visual consistency while integrating large amounts of media, text, and interactive elements. It pushed me to refine my front-end development skills, improve my understanding of web animation logic, and think critically about user experience and storytelling through design.
